Abstract
The present work analyzes the crisis produced in the Appellate Body (AB) of the World Trade Organization as a result of the United States blockade to the appointment of members to fill vacant positions in said Organ, an unprecedented situation that threatens paralyze the total functioning of the Dispute Settlement Understanding. Prior to this, a brief summary of the WTO dispute settlement system is made, with particular reference to the creation and functioning of the LO, providing the necessary framework to understand the reasons behind this action. The authors conclude with reflections that allow us to identify, with good reason, the possible options for the solution of the crisis in the medium and short term.References
