Abstract
The general objective of this work is to study the controversy raised between Brazil and Uruguay, at first, and between Argentina and Uruguay, later, within the dispute resolution mechanism establish in MERCOSUR, regarding a measure adopted by Brazil and Argentina that had banned the entry of retreaded tires to their territories: "case of the molded tires". The specific objectives are: (i) to make a comparison and identify the specific connections between the controversies and (ii) to determine the implications of the arbitration awards issued to resolve the controversy from a systemic perspective. The method used for the investigation was the case analysis.
