Abstract
This paper presents a descriptive and analytical study of interregional cooperation in science and technology between the European Union and MERCOSUR. Two case studies are carried out: the formation of the Biotecsur Platform and the participation of MERCOSUR countries in the Framework Programs. The work starts from the hypothesis that it is possible to trace an interest of the European Union to promote the development of scientific policy in MERCOSUR oriented to agricultural development. Which translates into a promotion of biotechnology, and developments related to an economic model linked to agribusiness. Notwithstanding this, it is argued that, even with all these requirements (or alerts), the management of interregional cooperation allowed strengthening domestic institutional processes and promoting greater intraregional articulation that sought to guide science towards goals closer to national realities.
