Resumo
O artigo examina como a integração européia, em seus estágios iniciais (1957-1989), participou de uma koiné modernista humanista e estatista que, apesar da existência da Guerra Fria e de assumir diferentes formas políticas, se estendeu a ambos blocos. Os conteúdos dessa koiné são explorados, bem como suas origens históricas e teóricas, de acordo com as sugestões esclarecedoras do filósofo francês Alexandre Kojève, que identificou o fim da história na “fusão” entre Marx e Ford -não entre democracia liberal e capitalismo-. O que garantiu paz e bem-estar à Europa no período coberto pelo artigo não foi sua integração entendida como uma rede de instituições formais, normas e valores abstratos, foi uma forma comum de governança inspirada por um certo lema político, numa utopia realista formada para as aquisições mais preciosas das tradições liberais e marxistas.Referências
