Resumo
Ao examinar como a prática estatal calcula os prazos em quatro casos que representam momentos importantes na vida dos tratados, o autor busca determinar quais regras, se houver, se aplicam aos tratados em relação ao cômputo do tempo. Os quatro estudos de caso são: quando um tratado exige que um certo prazo transcorra após o cumprimento das condições para sua entrada em vigor; quando um tratado é concluído por prazo determinado; quando a denúncia ou notificação de retirada de um tratado deve ser seguida de um período de tempo antes de produzir efeitos; e o decurso de um período durante o qual podem ser recebidas objeções a uma reserva.
